PhD International Masters Scholarship Positions in Structural Eng., Weimar,

The International Masters Scholarship overall objective of the Graduate School is to evaluate the reliability, security and robustness of numerical models. This assessment takes into account a variety of aspects and models. This includes, but is not limited to models, the charges or the material and structural behavior of systems described in structural engineering limited. Of particular interest are the interactions of these models in complex systems. Their influence on the quality of the models of coupled complex systems to determine.

International Masters Scholarship Foundation of research results that were achieved during the first phase of the project. Further research will be in groups of two to three graduate students under the supervision of doctoral students both be carried out. Each doctoral student is supervised by three teachers, two professors in Weimar and the Third well-being of our international partners. After an initial phase of intensive training, development of the students involved thesis topic in consultation with their supervisors. The International Masters Scholarship combination of models and methods for specific projects, then offers the possibility of the complex problems encountered in working groups apart.

We expect excellent degrees from the applicants in one or several of the following subjects

Civil Engineering
Structural and Soil Mechanics/Dynamics
Materials Science
Applied Mathematics & Computer Science

We see ourselves as an international research training group. Very good English skills are a prerequisite for internal communication, for publications in scientific journals, and for a mandatory stay abroad, serving the scientific exchange with our international cooperation partners.

In order to allow a fast realization of models, of couplings, and of evaluation methods, command of one or several programming languages (e.g. C/C++, Java, Python, Matlab) is of advantage.

The International Masters Scholarship positions are available as of June till October 2011. Funding is granted for a maximum period of three years and is compensated according to TV/L 13 E.
